I saw one of these on the freeway today (SWB panel van just like the picture below) and I just couldn’t shake the feeling that this is a thing I need in my life. Preferably with windows and in an actual color as configured above.

I hope these are better than the previous generation. We bought seven of them and they were abysmal. Interior parts broke right and left, and the transmissions were a nightmare. Only one made it to 200k and it constantly overheated.

I’ve driven a first gen and I couldn’t even find a comfortable seating position in the driver’s seat. The second gen is much better in that department and build quality is good as far as I remember. Couldn’t speak to long term durability, but the second gen has been out long enough that I’m sure there’s plenty of info out there.

My mom got a fulled loaded Titanium LWB as a service loaner once and we all hated it. The chassis is very obviously Focus-derived, which is about the only complement I can give it. It’s pretty obvious it was a work van first, passenger van second.

We had the first gen for work and they sucked. We ended up changing mine out for a Ford Escape since most of my miles where highway miles.

The second generation is all new, so I would hope it wouldn’t have the same problems. I just don’t trust them yet.

A Focus-based work van is an idea that appeals to me greatly.

It shouldn’t. I liked the idea of the Connect too until that loaner.

I’ve got a couple Nissan NV200 vans right now, both are 2013 models and have 200k+ miles. They are by far cheaper to run despite the fact that the only tires available only last 20k or so. I wish my Ram C/Vs were as cheap because they’re better to drive.

There’s a champagne-colored one (passenger) at my other half’s work with a big Yakima box on top and it just looked so right.

I go back and forth, I’ve specc’d one out before and though about it as a DD, but worry about trans issues like the focus/fiesta, I had a work car focus for a bit and it was awful with only 25k on it. I liked everything else though and almost bought an ST later on but couldn’t quite afford it. Drove a full size uhaul connect too and liked it with the ecoboost.
